Cesafinews | Cebu Air Base will store PAF equipment in a P188-M hangar | LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu – The Philippine Air Force’s (PAF) fixed-wing and rotary-wing air mobility weapons will be kept in a new building at the Mactan-Benito Ebuen Air Base in this island city.
During Thursday’s groundbreaking ceremony, the head of the Air Mobility Command, Maj. Gen. Joannis Leonardi Dimaano, said that the PHP188 million hangar would be a “hub for maintenance and shelter of our air assets.”
He said that Lapu-Lapu City Lone District Congresswoman Cynthia King-Chan helped get the money put into the national budget for 2023.
In his speech, Mayor Junard Chan said, “This hangar will be a place for planes to get their engines fixed, which will help keep the planes in good shape and improve how the air force works.”
The mayor said that the hangar would be built with money from the 2023 General Appropriations Act and the Tikas ng Imprastraktura para sa Kapayapaan at Seguridad (TIKAS) programme between the Department of National Defence and the Department of Public Works and Highways.
In part 1, they will build a PAF rotary hangar that is 4,565 square metres and has a main parking area for helicopters, a pilot lounge, three office rooms, a warehouse, four comfort rooms, and an electric room with plumbing and electrical fixtures.
The project should be over by July 2024.
“More importantly, this will help our country’s social and economic growth in the long run because it will give us peace and security,” King-Chan said. (via PNA)
