To start off, I have a little trivia for everyone. No host team in the history of the World Cup has ever lost an opener.

So ‘emotionwise’ if I were going to bet on the game later between South Africa and Mexico, I will place my money on South Africa winning the game. (but that’s just me .. and I don’t bet because emotions get the better of me)

‘Statswise’, South Africa is the underdog here, They are ranked 83rd in the FIFA standings. They are the lowest rank team ever to get a chance to host the World Cup. Mexico on the other hand has been competing in international tourneys for quote some time. They’ve fared well with the midfield teams but has had difficulty beating the sports’ top teams.

In about two hours form now (10 AM EST) we will get to see South Africa vs Mexico in Soccer City Stadium.

Again, experts predict that Mexico will beat South Africa in the very first game of the World Cup this year.
