Cebu crops, flowers and fruits are slowly feeling the effects of the El Niño Phenomenon. About 28 mountain barangays already went into record as being hit hard by the El Niño said The City Agricultural Office earlier today.
City Agriculturist Joel Baclayon said crop damages reached P75 million from January to the first week of April. Hardest hit were barangays Cambinucot, Paril, and Lusaran in the north and barangay Sudlon II in the south.
Baclayon said their office advised farmers to minimize their planting and focus instead on raising livestock.
PAG-ASA said that the rains are still expected by the Month of August so there is still a long way to go.
