The barangay captain of Barili was arrested for alleged possession of unlicensed firearms. Binondo believed that his arrest was politically motivated with the barangay elections only a few months away.
CIDG 7 Deputy Chief Ritchie Medardo Posadas said that they initiated the operation after they received a complaint from some of the residents of the said barangay.
The search warrant was issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 10 Judge Soliver Peras against Binondo. His .45 pistol, a 12-gauge shotgun, a .357 revolver, two magazines for a .45, three bullets for a .357, four live ammunitions for a shotgun, two holsters and 10 empty shells for a .45. was confiscated as a result of the said raid.
